DSS quizzes Ekiti pilgrims’ board chiefs for diversion of hajj estacode
EKITI State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Chairman Alhaji Lateef Agbaje is in trouble for alleged fraud in handling pilgrims’ estacodes.

Agbaje was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on arrival at the Ilorin International Airport last Tuesday, and whisked to the office of the security agency in the Kwara State capital.

He is being held with the board’s secretary, Babatunde Mohammed, a career civil servant.   More....

Youths laud Fayemi on Ekiti NECO results
A youth group, Progressive Youth League (PYL), has praised the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for the excellent performance of Ekiti students in the Senior Secondary School Examination results released by the National Examination Council (NECO).

According to NECO Senior Secondary School examination released a fortnight ago, Ekiti dwarfed other states with 96.48 per cent. It was followed by Edo State with 96.   More....

Missing 12-year-old girl found dead in latrine in Ekiti

A twelve-year-old girl, simply known as Blessing, reportedly died when she fell into a pit latrine at Asin-Ekiti, in Ikole Local Council of Ekiti State.

A witness, Ruth Bamidele, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday that the deceased was running an errand for her parents on Monday evening when the incident occurred.

Bamidele said the girl mistakenly stepped on the rusty and weak concrete that covered the pit latrine and fell into it with nobody around to rescue her.   More....

Last week, the National Examination Council (NECO) released its ranking of states in terms of performance in its June/July 2016 Senior School Certificate Examination. Ekiti was ranked number one in all the 36 states of the federation, including Abuja. This piece is not to shower accolade on Gov Ayodele Fayose, though deserved, but a call to other state government and governors on the need to pay attention to education in their respective states.   More....

– Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Mr. Ayo Fayose have openly differed on the peace move initiated by the two feuding factions of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi and Senator Ali Sheriff respectively. It will be recalled that both factions had for months been locked up in a legal tussle on who was rightly placed to lead the opposition party. But last week Tuesday saw the two warring sides announce a truce, saying they would work together to move the party forward.   More....
